Harrah’s even cuts its costs by requiring its salaried personnel to work
"volunteer/community service" hours in other various areas unrelated to
gaming, and these are all areas which could easily have individuals
properly paid in other departments to perform the tasks. For example,
extra security could be brought in to assist with concerts instead of
offering managers this option to burn off their community service hours.
Our Supervisors did not commit a crime, so why the requirement of
community service?
They say “volunteer,” but we know that it amounts to nothing more than
free labor for Harrah’s, thus lowering the standard. Tactics like these
also further erode competitive wages in the area due to decreasing the
supply of jobs. Certainly, we understand that we cannot negotiate our supervisors' issues, but we do fully understand that cost-cutting measures
affect all of us.
Supervisors, we have
this area of the
site devoted to you.
